Born in Belgium in 1985, Laura Jay Nethercott also known as L(ady) Jay, passed the first 4 years of her life in Cobham, on the outskirts of London. Back to Belgium, she followed a traditional path and was educated at an International School near Brussels. After high school, she went to the Tarrant county college (TX USA) to follow dance, sculpture and photography classes during 3 months. She then enjoyed the scenery of the French Alps for the winter season. Back to Brussels, she passed the next three years gaining a Visual Communications degree at the ESA ST LUC art School Brussels.During summer 2007, Laura flew off to the South of France, at the French Riviera, to follow an internship as a graphic designer and photographer. January 2008, off to Montreal to the Marsan Photography College in Montreal Canada where she obtained a AEC in commercial photography. Since October 2009, Laura is located in Brussels and focussing on a several strands of photography in the nightlife business, conceptual photography & documentary. She works as a freelance photographer and is currently working on a couple of personal projects. Her work is clearly divided into two styles. Capturing moments of the everyday life, moments, feelings, atmospheres through a very classic approach of photography, often in Black and White and reminiscent of the Polaroid Period that she particularly loves. The second side of her work is completely out of control. Flashy, full of saturated colours & intrusive. The special vibe, energy & atmosphere that nightlife awakens when most people are falling asleep is close to an obsession. Looking at things the way they really are… capturing all of the moments in a very subjective and personal way... Photo Bio (© Lou Elboud)
